A sweeping lumbar curve carved out of maple wood, into and out of which a smaller maple block slowly rides back and forth.  This machine whose gears are made of steel rod suggests both a caressing hand and an erosive tide.  The harsh sound of steel rods rubbing and the quiet hum of the 6 rpm motor are accompanied by the smooth friction of the two wooden parts.
